Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China.
Reflexology can be used to help restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium. Perhaps you have a health complaint that has not been resolved by conventional medical treatment or have learned to live with niggling problems because you feel nothing more can be done.
Reflexology may aid: Stress-related problems, Back pain, Fertility issues, Sleep disorders, Hormonal imbalances.
Many people use Reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress. Putting time aside for regular reflexology treatments in your busy schedule will help you to relax. The sense of well-being after a treatment may last for several days and could make a considerable difference to the way you are feeling. Many people report that Reflexology has had a positive effect on their physical and mental health and continue to come along for treatments after their initial health issue has been resolved.
Remember Reflexology is a gentle therapy so is suitable for all ages from babies to the elderly.
- Some doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise Reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy. Reflexology should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
Reflexology during the Menopause
About three to seven years before periods stop completely, your body starts to go through considerable hormonal changes. This is known as the peri-menopause and usually starts when you reach your mid-40s, though it may happen at a much earlier age. Sometimes this is caused by a medical condition or there may be a family history of premature menopause. Some of the following symptoms may appear at this time, although you may not initially link this to a change in your menstrual cycle:
- hot flushes
- irritability/mood swings
- depression
- anxiety
- fatique/lack of energy
- sleeplessness
- irregular/heavy periods
Reflexology may help to regulate and balance your hormone levels in a natural way, without you having to resort to HRT. Regular treatments will encourage you to relax and may alleviate troublesome symptoms, enabling you to enjoy life again!
